CoryLavel received a songwriting award for outstanding achievement from Motown Legend, Lamont Dozier. Mr. Dozier complimented CoryLavel by saying, "The kids got a great voice. I don't see how he wouldn't be successful and crush the competition in the R&B market." CoryLavel has been honored with an award for the best independent R&B album of the year by the L.A. Music Awards as well as being placed as a finalist in an International Songwriting Competition.
An in-studio radio interview in 2005 with Steve Harvey of the Steve Harvey morning show on 100.3 The Beat, in Los Angeles would catapult CoryLavel into the spotlight. With the initial spin of his first single "Woman" on the show, and through positive and continued caller support, the single received moderate airplay success in one of the nation's largest radio markets.
CoryLavel would like to work with a diverse range of artists including Jay-Z, Dr. Dre., The Neptunes, Prince, Emenim, R.Kelly, Kanye West, and Ludacris just to name a few.
