Steve Strother, CEO, consultant and founder of A&R Music Live, LLC and show host of the internet show – “Around The Block”, has more than 24 years of experience in the music industry and corporate America. He is a graduate of Auburn University, with a major in psychology, where he was also a four-time NCAA Track and Field All-American.
Strother’s professional background positions such as music industry seminar leader, Consultant and Entertainment Recruiter for Turner Broadcasting, HR Consultant, Regional Technical Recruiting Manager and U.S. Diversity Consultant for Hewlett Packard, Systems Analyst and Customer Service Supervisor for IBM, Caseworker for Big Brother Big Sister and professional entertainment photographer. As a prep student Strother was President of the Spike Shoe Society and a Board Member of the Academic Honesty Committee. Strother also served on the Academic Advisory Board for Bauder College in Atlanta, GA.
On the seminar circuit Strother has moderated major record company A&R panels for more than 16 years, including for organizations and companies such as: NARAS, ASCAP, SESAC, Atlantis Music Conference, Jack The Rapper, National Entertainment Seminar Series, Soul Summit, Southern Music Conference, Bermuda Songwriters Association and the Bahamas Sun Splash to name a few. Strother founded and hosted the online teleconference series in 2001 - The A&R Live Hookup, where he has hosted more than 2200 online sessions with top record company A&R. Strother was featured on the Atlanta station, NBC 11 Alive news, as a music industry expert on the Atlanta music market, along with TLC, Usher and former CEO of LaFace Records and Island Def Jam Records, L.A. Reid.
Today, Strother is the go-to-guy and major networker for many top record company A&R and industry professionals. He is known by industry insiders and for his high ethical and professional standards, technical savvy, knowledge of the music business and solid industry relationships. Strother consults entertainment clients throughout the world, with a concentration of clients from the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Germany, UK and the United States. As host of the A&R Live Hookup, he consults and connects artists, producers and songwriters with record A&R, publishers and music supervisors for deal consideration through the A&R LIVE HOOKUP program. Strother also consults top A&R, radio program directors and other industry professional on a range of personal development goals.
